Volker Neighborhood Events

The VNA is proud to offer events throughout the calendar year to support our residents and businesses. We hold neighborhood meetings nearly every month, a homes tour in May, a neighborhood picnic in June/July, porch parties in August, dumpster days twice per year, neighborhood cleanup days, and various other a-hoc events. Please see below for more information on upcoming happenings in Volker.

Neighborhood Meetings

2nd Thursdays

7pm - 8pm

The VNA meets the first Thursday of every month other than July, August, and December.

Meeting Location: our meeting room will be at the Loretto event space located at 1111 W 39th St (at Roanoke). The meeting room is accessible directly from the rear parking lot (behind the main building) on the west side -- look for the glass doors. Please be respectful and do not park in resident restricted parking spaces.

Meeting Time: 6:45PM - 7:00PM social time and 7:00PM - 8:00PM main program

Volker Homes Tour
May 18, 2024
10am - 3pm

The VNA is honored to host the first annual Volker Homes Tour on May 18, 2024! Kansas Citians and old home lovers from near and far are invited to tour six of Volker’s most exceptional and historic homes. Located on the west side of midtown, the Volker neighborhood is an eclectic mix of housing, people, and lifestyles. Architecture ranges from turn-of-the-century “Kansas City shirtwaist” and four-square styles, to modest single-family bungalows and multi-story, brick colonnade apartment buildings of the 1920s, to ranch style, infill housing of the 1950s.

Volker Porch Parties

Volker’s most celebrated event is back after a pandemic hiatus. Join us for a TBD Saturday in August from 6-8pm. Porch Parties give you a chance to meet your nearest neighbors in a casual setting. Hosts provide a porch and agree to publicize party locations. Attendees bring their own beverages, munchies, and chairs.

If you are interested in hosting a porch party, please reach to a member of the VNA board. Organizers will start coordinating in June and hosts will be slected in July.

Dumpsters & Cleanups

Spring & Fall

Dates TBD

Each year we host Spring and Fall dumpster days. The VNA coordinates with the City to provide two dumpsters for trash, and one dumpster for leaf/brush debris. We frequently have electronic recyclers and/or metal scrappers attend the events as well. Please check with your local VNA area representative for details.

In respect of VNA members whose membership dues pay for the dumpsters, and to prevent abuse of this community service to the neighborhood please abide by the rules.
